Should I have an Engine remap?

There are two main reasons for having a remap, and that is power and torque. When your car was delivered to you its performance was deliberately “throttled” in order to meet certain economy and efficiency targets. This is done by the software running in the engine control unit (ECU) controlling so parameters, such as ignition timing, air/fuel ratio and turbocharging boost pressure.

To improve the performance or economy of your car, the first place to look is the ECU.

Re-Mapping turbo diesel engines can improve the economy by 7 to 10 per cent, as it adds torque lower down the rev range meaning the engine doesn’t have to work as hard.
